16 & 17 May 2024 | 1st Symposium Mediterranean Fruit: Hub for Innovation
The 1st Mediterranean Fruit Symposium: Hub for Innovation took place at Avignon, France. We brought together voices from various countries, bridging gaps and fostering connections worldwide. This symposium wasn’t just about knowledge-sharing; it was about building a community united by a passion for innovation in Mediterranean fruit cultivation. We created a great synergy between 4 different European Projects, which will be an important step for the smallholders in the Mediterranean.
The Symposium counted on 128 registrations and 59 abstracts, from a total of 8 countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Morocco, Italy, Philippines, Sweden and Brazil.
The event featured:
9 keynotes (three in Session 1, one in Session 2, two in Session 3, and three in Session 4);
20 oral communications (six in Session 1, four in Session 2, six in Session 3, and four in Session 4);
and 30 posters (three in Session 1, twelve in Session 2, eleven in Session 3, and four in Session 4).
An E-Book with IBSN: 978-9/2-8/65-446 was published and made available on-line in the website of InovFarmer.MED https://inovfarmer-med.org/symposium/.
A second symposium is already planned for October 2025. This event will allow the continuation of promoting international cooperation and knowledge sharing, focusing on the specificities and opportunities of Mediterranean agriculture and agribusiness. These meetings reflect the ongoing commitment of the InovFarmer.MED project to promote innovation, sustainability and efficiency in the agricultural sector, contributing to the economic and technological development of the regions involved.
